Privacy Policy

1. The short version

You decide when content leaves the app—for example, when you share a PDF or enable optional iCloud PDF Backup.

2. Who is responsible

PikPDF is provided by Ahmet Baser (“PikPDF,” “we,” “us”). For privacy questions or requests, contact support@pikpdf.com. Additional provider information is available in our Legal Notice.

3. Information handled by the app

Documents and local app data

Documents you scan, import or create—and related OCR text, edits, signatures, names, folders, tags, categories and settings—are stored locally on your device unless you choose to share them or enable iCloud PDF Backup. We do not receive this content.

No PikPDF account

PikPDF does not require you to create a developer-operated account. We do not collect a profile, login password or contact list through the app.

On-device OCR and AI

Text recognition uses Apple technologies on your device. On supported devices and configurations, Apple Intelligence may help create summaries, names, categories or tags from recognized text, and write answers when you ask a question about your documents. Document translation uses Apple’s Translation framework on your device; the first time you translate between two languages, iOS may download a language pack from Apple. PikPDF does not send document content to us or to an external AI provider. Feature availability depends on your device, operating system, language and Apple Intelligence settings.

App preferences

Settings such as scan quality, haptic feedback and whether optional features are enabled are stored on your device. They are used only to provide the choices you make in the app.

4. Device permissions

• Camera: used only when you choose to scan a document.
• Photos and Files: content is accessed only when you select it through Apple’s system pickers.
• Face ID or Touch ID: authentication is handled by iOS when you enable app or folder protection. PikPDF receives only the success or failure result and cannot access biometric data.

You can manage permissions in iOS Settings. Some related features will not work if the corresponding permission is disabled.

5. Apple services

Optional iCloud PDF Backup

If you enable iCloud PDF Backup, PDF files are copied to your private iCloud Drive container through Apple’s iCloud service. We cannot access your Apple Account or private iCloud files. You can disable backup at any time. Files already stored in iCloud remain under your control until you delete them.

Purchases and subscriptions

Apple processes purchases, free trials, renewals, cancellations, refunds and payment information through the App Store and StoreKit. PikPDF receives verified product and entitlement information needed to unlock Premium features. We do not receive your full payment card details or Apple Account password.

Apple’s handling of information is governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy.

6. Sharing and exports

PikPDF shares or exports a document only when you initiate the action. Once content is sent to another app, cloud provider, printer, person or service, it is handled according to the privacy practices of the destination you selected.

7. Website and support communications

Website

This website does not use advertising cookies, analytics pixels or social-media trackers. Like most websites, the hosting infrastructure may temporarily process technical request data such as IP address, date and time, requested page, browser information and response status to deliver the site, maintain security and diagnose errors. This data is not used to profile you or advertise to you.

Support email

If you contact us, we receive the email address, message and attachments you choose to send. We use this information to answer your request, provide support, protect the service and comply with legal obligations. Please do not send confidential document contents unless they are necessary for your request.

Where the GDPR applies, processing is based on steps requested before or during a service relationship (Article 6(1)(b)), compliance with legal obligations (Article 6(1)(c)), and our legitimate interests in secure, reliable support and service operation (Article 6(1)(f)).

8. Retention and deletion

• Local app content remains until you delete documents, clear local documents or remove the app.
• Removing the app deletes its local container. iCloud copies may remain in your iCloud account until you delete them.
• Apple retains purchase records under its own policies.
• Support messages are retained only as long as reasonably necessary to resolve the request, maintain appropriate business records, prevent abuse or meet legal obligations.
• Technical website logs are retained only as long as necessary for security, troubleshooting and lawful operation of the website.

9. Your privacy rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability or objection regarding personal data we control. Because document content is kept on your device or in your private iCloud container, you normally manage it directly in the app, iOS or iCloud.

Where the GDPR applies, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with a competent data protection supervisory authority. To exercise a right concerning support communications or website data, contact us using the address below.

10. Children

PikPDF is a general productivity tool and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect children’s personal information through a developer-operated account or document server.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when PikPDF’s features, service providers or legal requirements change. The effective date at the top identifies the current version. Material changes will be presented through an appropriate notice.
